Stadium Management Ltd was contracted under CTM as part of the WRG team delivering the seven disciplines for the Tour De France 2015 Stage 1 and 2 in Yorkshire.
One of the first tasks was to introduce some standardisation to the LA’s designs that they had been working on for well over 14 months. All documentation and CAD plans were in different formats which meant that trying to deliver one event which was one route in 16 different formats would have been more expensive and challenging without standardisation.
We were based in Leeds Monday to Thursday for the duration of the contract working alongside the councils delivery team (TDF Hub). We supplied project management and CAD services to design and procure and operate the Traffic Management Services for Stage 1 and 2 of the event.
RESULTS & KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
We Developed the traffic management plan for the event and designed the procurement strategy. We successfully managed 7 major suppliers and delivered the transport operation plan on the event day which involved 2000 road closures and 10,000 signs delivered.
On event days we were located in event control to manage the deployment of all traffic management equipment and implemented the controlled close of over 2000 roads over the two days. We designed, developed and delivered a rigours procurement strategy that then encompassed all the traffic management elements from over 32,000 traffic cones, 40,000 diversion signs along with over 100 variable message signs. We introduced innovate technology within event control that ensured that we had live and full visibility of what was happening on the ground.
